Gents,
Congratulations on a thoroughly deserved victory vs. Police on Sunday...
We can be proud of our discipline throughout, the way we kept the opposition under constant pressure and prevented them from scoring a single point.
The scoreboard kept ticking over thanks to our continuous pressure and of course Rich Holden slotting 80% of his goal-kicks. It is comforting to know that our hard work will result in points, despite the fact that we let some try scoring chances slip through our fingers… Well done to our back-line who attacked the game line with aggressive intent and showed great strength and discipline in defence.
Our front row hurt them for the entire match with all three also contributing in the loose. We dominated the line-outs (Rourke and Biram were immense) and had the upper hand in all the collisions thanks to the physicality of Gonzo, Brady and Furbs. I am proud to say that our ball retention skills and set-pieces are unmatched in Bermuda. We will have to improve on our distribution and attacking play and will address that this week…
Although it was a complete team effort, I’d like to commend Poms, Staf, Furbs, Gary, Dusty and Bibbly on challenging the extremes of the pain barrier in order to produce a top result for the Club. I also take my hat off to Rich Fisher who in my view played his best game of the season despite being switched to fullback at short notice.
Finally, thanks again to all the players that provided cover on the bench.
This performance was the perfect exhibition of how MARINERS SPIRIT can produce winning results and pure enjoyment.
I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at training tomorrow to start preparing for our match against Teachers this Sunday at 1:30.
Safe!
